This was a cute, sexy and comedic paranormal romance. Although Addy and her unique slang talk took a while to get used to , eventually I got the hang of it. Brand was his own kind of H. A Dalvahni (inter-dimensional demon hunting warrior) with old world charm. This whole thing really worked for me. I liked his over protectiveness, his possessiveness and that he didn't deny his feeling for Addy. Its always nice to read an H who doesnt follow the usually "in denial 'til the Bitter End" trope in a romance and Brand passed with flying colors ;)This was a read that was easy on the drama and although it had an interesting subplot of murder and demons running rampant in a middle of nowhere town, it was overshadowed by the insta lust that seems contagious is Hannah, AL.
Although Brand and Addy are the prime MCs we also have Addy's best friend Evie and Ansgar, Brand's Dalvahni brother, Addy's aunt Muddy and Mr. Collier, and Addy's big brother Shep and Lenora's stories unfolding. Typically I don't like these side stories because I end up resenting time spent away from the main couple but these characters were just as attention grabbing as the MCs. Cant wait to find out what is happening with Evie and Ansgar!
The only thing I had an issue with was the separation period where Addy goes all depressed shrew on us when Brand gets summoned back. It didn't jive with the smart ass tough chick she'd been prior to Brand leaving. The reunion was cute and it ends with a marriage proposal and hints of more in the next installment. If the author can stay away from cringe worthy scenes like penises shrink wrapped and bagged like leftovers and maybe focus more on these yummy demon hunter hotties, I can live with that!

I was expecting to enjoy Lexi George's Demon Hunting in Dixie. I was NOT expecting to enjoy it as much as I am! It's a hilarious romp with more than a bit of sizzle -- but not so much that I found myself skimming over the sexy bits like I normally would. The humor is what kept me hooked. Addy is constantly thinking or saying something outrageous. Pretty much everyone (even her dog) just let it all come out with their own special kind of Southern charm. I think it's no secret that I love snark. This has it in abundance and if I didn't already own the second book in the series I would be buying it immediately!
So I'll be brutally honest and say I only got four chapters in. The premise was pretty interesting but the sexual nature of the book is throwing me off. I don't particularly care for sex scenes and to have one barely three chapters in, even if it isn't a "full" sex scene just really bothers me. I don't see myself finishing this since it seems like sex will be a big part of it and I don't feel those types of scenes are really necessary to tell a compelling story.
Loved this book. It was referred by a friend. And I'm not really into romance or science fiction. But, out of friendship, I decided to read it. So, we would have this common bond. I didn't expect to like it. But, was pleasantly surprised how much I loved it. The characters were great. And, the story made me excited to pick it up. Many books advertise that you will "laugh out loud". And, of course, you never do. This book was different. it continued to crack me up. And, having been raised in the South, I recognized many of the Southern slang and sayings. They could have come right out of my relatives mouths. A perfect page turner. I have already downloaded the sequels into my kindle!
This was different from the usual campy paranormal books I seem to favor. First of all, there was an awful lot of explicit sex and the book dragged on and on. The exciting fighting doesn't even happen when expected. All in all it was pretty uneventful but I kept reading hoping for something of significance to happen. I will not be reading any sequels.
This was a fun, funny, and sexy paranormal romance. Addy Corwin is a florist in her small town of Hannah, Alabama. She had no idea that her town was a hotbed of demons and is soon to be the site of a demon apocalypse. When in the woods searching for her wandering dog, she is attacked by a demon. Luckily the demon is being followed by Brand who is a Dalvahni warrior. He saves her by giving her some of his essence and then takes her home.
The two are immediately attracted leading to the spicy love scenes. But Addy is a good girl and Brand doesn't understand Southern culture. Addy's mother Bitsy is a Southern whirlwind that everyone - especially Addy - is afraid of. She would dearly love Addy to be married and never tires of parading prospects in front of her.
The town is filled with a plethora of eccentrics which leads to a lot of the humor in the book. Some of the funniest scenes take place at the funeral of a man with a wandering eye. Between having the body taken over by a demon, the widow and the latest girlfriend having a knock down drag out fight at the wake, and the body disappearing, there are lots of opportunities for funny scenes. The book is also filled with colorful Southern idioms and phrases.
I loved the bickering between Addy and Brand's best friend Ansgar. I enjoyed the relationship between Ansgar and Addy's best friend Evie. I loved the way Addy and Evie's high school rival and now local socialite Meredith Starr Peterson gets what she deserves once Addy gains Dalvahni powers.
This was fun and funny and should be on the list of anyone who likes urban fantasy.
