Barbarian Mate A SciFi Alien Romance Ice Planet Barbarians Book 7 eBook Ruby Dixon
I waited so long for this couples journey. It was entertaining to watch them bicker with each other through the books. I knew theirs story going to be something interesting.I was right. The story was something. It made me even bawl like a baby for a moment or two. I felt so heartbreaking for Haeden. I know he came through the previous books as this surly, grouchy and always scowling, but hey, he was like a brusque bear. A bear that deep down you know you can cuddle with like a teddy bear. And here his soft cuddly side comes out. And since then I adore this guy. Um... Alien.
So, back to the heartbreaking part and tears. Why would I feel like that? Well, when Josie and Haeden started to resonate for each other, they got all shocked and disappointed, and... Well, you get the idea. But since resonance is something sa-khui prized, Haeden is ready to accept and take care of his new mate. But Josie's on the other hand fights resonance with her last breath. Keeping pushing and pushing Haeden away. And seeing this through his eyes made me all emotional and sad for Haeden. πππ
Okay, I don't say that they should had jumped into this from the first purring of the cooties. They needed time to know each other. To see other sides of them, that other human and aliens didn’t saw. So, they needed to meet somewhere in the middle. But nope. Josie was all 'Big fat NO to the resonance with Haeden.' I was annoyed with her for few chapters. I think she was to harsh with poor blue horny alien. Yup, pun intended.
At the end I loved both of them. Well, okay. I love Haeden more. He was determined to win a piece of my heart. And he was successful in his quest. πππ
An there is some mysterious thing going on. Now after finished to read, instead of being all satisfied and smug, I'm a little puzzled and inquiring. What the hell is going on on that planet?

Barbarian Mate A SciFi Alien Romance Ice Planet Barbarians Book 7 eBook Ruby Dixon Reviews
I've been reading this series since it was first published and Josie has always been my least favorite of the captive girls. Probably because in reality, I'm irritated beyond belief by the type of person that rambles on constantly with their conversations. Non-stop cheerful chatter, especially loud chatter, as Josie's is described in earlier books, makes my brain hurt. I bought this with the feeling that it wouldn't be one of my favorites, yet I can't skip an entry into the Not-Hoth world.
Okay, okay...so I was wrong. I really liked this one. In Josie's own tale, she talks less and her internal thoughts come across as more intelligent than her dialogue in the previous stories. The first 15% of the book moved slow. Josie is so resistant to the idea of Haeden as her mate that no action and a lot of sulking occurs. She acts selfishly and rather meanly to Haeden but I could accept the backstory of her issues as a former foster kid enough to stick with it. Once she decides to run, the plot really took off for me and I became more invested in the story. I thought the walking/sex situation was campy but other than that, great erotic scenes and a well written relationship develops.
I'm glad to see that the author had a trick up her sleeve for introducing new girls into the series. None of her fans are ready for this to end just yet. Since Ruby Dixon asks for opinions at the end, rather than go back in time to see the original ship-wrecked aliens, I'd be interested in a spin off showing the distant future of Not-Hoth. How do the descendants of the two species develop over a few centuries? The humans have brought a lot of innovative ideas in terms of the culture of the tribe. They're beginning to utilize agriculture, domesticate animals, creating rituals/holidays, Harlow's use of old technology from the wrecked ship, etc. Does a slightly more advanced civilization develop now that there's a small population explosion? Whatever direction Dixon takes her sexy barbarians, I'll be coming along for the ride.
I've loved the WHOLE series Sooo far and was soo excited about Josie and Haeden's story .... I thought the interesting dog/cat chemistry was fun and maybe exciting ,but not Josie is closed off and closed mouthed except when saying something mean or hurtful to Haeden..... Ok sure he's been a jerk to her but even after learning about the rejection and open cruelty his 1st "mate" put him through, she's like ok,and soooo ? I mean for about 5 seconds she feels bad for him but she doesn't use this as a chance to get to know him better or try understand him or cut him at least a lil slack or anything, all the while Haeden hurts for her feeling the sting of yet another rejection by a female " mate" hoping patience will win his female even thou it didn't last time... Haeden is just hurting and scared and he wants the exact same thing Josie claims she wants..... A home and a family to be loved and cared for and despite how he's come off in the past Haeden would eagerly give her anything if she just asked but Josie's too busy bee nt selfish and self absorbed to care or notice any ones pain but her own.... Damn she pissed me off she know what it's like to be rejected you are told having grown up in foster care you think she'd see his pain for what it is,another hurting soul needing to be loved but instead she gives up on him at every turn w/out even trying at all making BOTH sick and miserable and only thinking of herself... So far I've stopped at chapter 8 and at the moment I don't know if I can go on,she just hurt him again when he got over excited after acting she might mate w/ him ,was nice about it but but being a complete and total virgin he embarrasses him self, deep sigh.. Doesn't go well to say the least, that was after she acted like lowering herself to him was a favor she could barely stand to offer.... I'm just boggled from Georgie and Vektal to Tiffany and her mate ,ups and downs, rights and wrongs not one has treated their mate as bad as this.... Liz and Rohassh ? Don't count they're both like too bulls in a china closet ,heck even Harlow's mate who'd kidnapped her having grown up alone had a better time of it... Sorry for me this one is a Dud! Josie is just toooo SELFISH!!! if she went rouge in her pity party ways after at least TRYING to understand him and get to know him and still bombed but she doesn't deserve his care,it's not fair to ask something of someone your not willing to give in return ... How ask for kindness and understanding when all you give is meanness and judgement ? What a disappointment ;(
